Obeying the Word He Has Given
"OH, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways." (Romans 11:33) NASB
We know the wisdom and knowledge of God is far above that of man. (Isaiah 55:8-10) God created the heavens and the earth, simply by "speaking" it all into being. (Genesis 1-2) His Word has the unlimited power to create and to destroy at His will. (2 Peter 3) We are barely able to comprehend such power in our limited world.
"For the WORD OF GOD IS LIVING AND ACTIVE AND SHARPER THAN ANY TWO-EDGED SWORD, and piercing as far as the division of SOUL AND SPIRIT, of both joints and marrow, and ABLE TO JUDGE THE THOUGHTS AND INTENTIONS OF THE HEART." (Hebrews 4:12)
"FOR ALL FLESH IS LIKE GRASS, AND ALL ITS GLORY LIKE THE FLOWER OF GRASS. THE GRASS WITHERS, AND THE FLOWER FALLS OFF, BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD ABIDES FOREVER. And this is THE WORD WHICH WAS PREACHED TO YOU. " (1 Peter 1:24,25)
Even though God has such unlimited knowledge and wisdom, His love even surpasses and is demonstrated in all He has done, and continues to do for us.
His Scriptures such as John 3:15,16 and many others.
"By this the LOVE OF GOD WAS MANIFESTED IN US, THAT GOD HAS SENT HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON INTO THE WORLD SO THAT WE MIGHT LIVE THROUGH HIM." (1 John 4:9)
One final Scripture which really reveals His power, as well as his wisdom and love. Please examine with me Psalm 19. Your Bible probably, like mine, may entitle this Psalm: THE WORKS AND THE WORD OF GOD. Very appropriately, for sure. What a beautiful Psalm, and testament to the attributes of a loving Father in heaven. Let us quote just a couple verses, and please read and mediate with me the rest:
"The heavens are telling of the glory of God; And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge. " (Psalm 19:1-2)
"The law of the Lord is prefect, RESTORING THE SOUL; THE TESTIMONY OF THER LORD IS SURE, MAKING WISE THE SIMPLE. The PRECEPTS OF THE LORD ARE RIGHT, REJOICING THE HEART; THE COMMANDMENT OF THE LORD IS PURE, ENLIGHTENING THE EYES. THE FEAR OF THE LORD IS CLEAN, ENDUING FOREVER." (Psalm 19:7-9)
In this one Psalm we have recorded for us both God's power and command of all things physical and spiritual. What a great love and care for His people we see here. When we consider all the evidence given us in the physical creation as well as the spiritual revelation (the Divine Scriptures), can we not clearly see the Living and Loving God we obey and serve? In every tree, flower, and all the universe around us, what a vast amount of evidence we see every day. He has seen fit to preserve and place in our hands His Living Word, the Bible, so we may have a guide to heaven, and live eternally with Him.
I believe this is a measure of love and wisdom man could never attain to without a merciful and loving God who created us. Should it be very hard to listen and obey the Word He has given? Have you done so, and are you continuing faithful to the end? As the Psalmist says, "The judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether."
