He Is Our Refuge
He Is Our Refuge
God, as our Creator, knows us better than even we know ourselves. Even Doctors are often astounded at the progress or how our bodies overcome some of the illnesses and diseases that may come our way. With prayer and His help nothing is impossible. God works in the ways He has promised .
As many of you know, I volunteered for a therapeutic health program using horses to provide therapy for many folks, most being children. It gave me a first hand picture of what many good and dedicated people go through every day and night. Some of those who were put on horses for 40 minutes of therapy were taken right out of wheel chairs. Many unable to use their bodies except for possibly a smile or other small accomplishment. And the parents and care takers of these special people worked tirelessly to care for them. I applaud each of them, and say what very special and loving folks I was able to meet and interact with during the 24 years I volunteered with the Therapeutic Horsemanship program in St Charles county. I will always remember the blessings it gave me to do a small part in their welfare and care. My thanks and appreciation for all you continue to do.
I think of one of God's promises, made through the Psalmist, in the 46th Psalm. "God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, through the earth should change, And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride."
"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting. " (Psalm 119:1)
"From my distress I called upon the lord; The Lord answered me and set me in a large place, The Lord is for me; I will not fear; What can man do to me? The Lord is for me among those who help me; Therefore I shall look with satisfaction on those who hate me, It is better to take refuge in the Lord Than to trust in man. It is better to take refuge in the Lord Than to trust in princes." (Psalm 119:5-9)
When we thank Him for our blessings let us not forget He is our refuge and strength in times of need along with other times. Think to include those who might have special needs when we pray to Him. At this time our brother in Christ, Alan Bagley, is in the hospital in very serious condition from a fall on the ice yesterday. Please include him in your prayers; I know his family, along with friends and other Christians would be very thankful.
