What Does God Expect from Us

What Does God Expect from Us

Have you given thought to the fact that God created us all, and does control all things, even though many think otherwise.  The world we live in, especially here in this country, has changed greatly in the past 75 years or so.  And for much of it not for the better, I think you would agree.  Although we have many "progressive" discoveries and inventions can we say we are so much better than we were then?  High tech conveniences have come a long way.  Our lives have become much more busy and sometimes overly so. Do we spend as much time as families as we used to?  How many times do we all sit down at the dinner table together?  Do we have time to think and appreciate many of the little things that mean so much.  The old adage of "stop and smell the roses" may need to be considered more even now.

Some things never change.  One of those is God's Word and His promises.(1 Peter 1:25) Please allow me to refer to a few of His special qualities that make Him so wonderful.
Does God not have THE RIGHT TO EXPECT FROM US:

OUR RESPECT....He is our Creator, our Sustainer, our Savior.  "For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created by Him and for Him.  and He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together." (Colossians 1:16,17)

OUR LOVE...."For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal live."
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                (John 3:16)
"For God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much mor then, having been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him." (Romans 5:8,9)

OUR OBEDIENCE...." But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became OBEDIENT FROM THE HEART to that form of teaching to which you were committed, and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness." (Romans 6:17.18)

As our Father in heaven, He always wants the best for His children.  Because He sent Jesus, HIs Son, we have the privilege to be "His children" by obeying the Gospel of Christ, and being a part of His Family.  What wonderful blessings because of the great love that comes from the Father and His Son!

"The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed that we may be glorified with Him." (Romans 8:16.17)

Please consider one last Scripture before closing.  The Apostle makes clear the wonderful promise God has made for those whose faith carries them through the course:  "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. " (Romans 8:18)

Thank you for just a bit of your time this early January day.  May we use this new year to be even better servants of our Master -- the God of heaven.
May He be with us in our endeavors to serve.
