Remembering 9-11

Where were you on this day 22 years ago??  I imagine you remember well that day -- a day when one of this country's most zealous enemies carried out a well-planned vicious attack, killing well over 2000 Americans.  The well thought out plan using commercial Aircraft as weapons and innocent victims as players brought about one of the worst catastrophes to ever strike our country.  As we all remember the two World Trade Center buildings destroyed by two airplanes, in addition to the crash in Pennsylvania and the Pentagon strike all within a short time that morning of September 11, 2001.  What a dark day for our country.  In addition many have been effected either by diseases and even death after the cleanup especially in New York.

For a short time after that happened there seemed to be a change in many around our country. Many seemed to be more spiritual  in their thinking.  It was said church attendance increased (but for only a time).  Even some things said over Televison and on media programs were based more on faith and thinking about God.  The sad part of this is the short time this apparently lasted.  Satan as we know never rests.  Sin is now stronger than ever in most of our country.  From what I hear less  are now attending church (of any kind) than for the last 60 or 70 years. So, God is left out of the picture, not only in our culture and country, but sadly in the home.  It has always been a fact - as the home (family) goes, so goes the nation.  Christians, it's up to us to do all we can to see His Gospel is spread about, and we use our influence as much as possible.   We all have opportunities; we have to use them!

Let us be reminded, of some of the Lord's teachings that ought to encourage us.  One of those comes from the Apostle Paul in the letter to the Philippians:

"Only conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ; so that whether I come and see you or remain absent, I may hear of you that you are standing from in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel; " (Philippians 1:27)

" Therfore be careful how you walk,  not as unwise men, but as wise,  making the most of you time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is." (Ephesians 5:17)

"He who rejects Me, and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; THE WORD I SPOKE IS WHAT WILL JUDGE HIM AT THE LAST DAY." (John 12:480

Finally, Peter's words in his first letter:
"In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials, that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ; and thought you have not seen Him, you Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, obtaining as the outcome of your faith the salvation of your souls. " (1 Peter 1:6-9)

Thank you for listening, and a bit of your day.   His promises are real, and His Word as powerful as ever.  We only need to use it to the best of our ability.  Souls are dying each day, many without ever hearing His Gospel.  We can make a change.   God be with us.
